Day one expressions of interest


Thursday morning brainstorming session (please don't add material here. Rather, expand the pages linked, or create new pages if they are still missing):

* How to present results from searches: 
  - efficiency models, unfolded distributions, roostats workspaces ..... 
  - interpretation of limits: phenomenological versus constrained models
  - mapping to models and connection to model discrimination
  => Can we have a recommendation/"accord"?
* In case LHC sees no signs in early running with current analyses:
  - "difficult" SUSY models (small mass gaps, LLP, ....)
  - pMSSM 
  - finetuning level?
  - improve sensitivity to "easy" models
* Higgs issues:
  - modeling of a wide Higgs (and other wide resonances)
  - Higgs and BSM: new Higgs signatures, incl 4th gen
* t+X: 
  - interpretation of Tevatron anomaly
  - "inventory" of literature on BSM physics in t+X, identification of missing signatures
  - use of top polarization, spin correlations (ttbar and similar topologies)
  - anomalous top interactions
* boosted objects, use of jet grooming techniques 
* Dark Matter:
  - stabilization symmetries
  - LHC vs DD, Higgs and DM, cosmology
  - DM properties from observations, MT2 and improvements on MT2
  - baryogenesis and collider signatures (incl CPV, flavor, 4th gen)

* LSTC, incl VV resonances
* Wjj anomaly: potential interpretations, LHC signatures
  - can we go to a Tevatron-like region in phase space where the same signal should be visible?

Pre-Les Houches Topics

A few possible topics are listed here, but we anticipate that the first few days at Les Houches will be key in making this page more reflective of the activities in the group.

* Early searches/discoveries: LHC 1 fb-1 vs Tevatron 10 fb-1: topologies and mass vs coupling sensitivities 
     (towards model independent limits)
* Early model discrimination: what can 1 fb-1 tell us?
* Prospects and updates on an LHC energy upgrade
* qq vs qqbar resonances: models & experimental distinguishability
* LHC signatures of asymmetric dark matter (see e.g. arXiv:1010.0245)
* Prospects for distinguishing different dark matter stabilizing symmetries at LHC. Z_2 vs. Z_3 etc.


Please feel free to add some topics you would like to discuss below.

* Measuring the top FB asymmetry at the LHC: multiple approaches proposed, how do they compare?  Can 
  some of the ideas be combined to improve sensitivity?  (Gustaaf)
* Interplay between Higgs and (other than Higgs) BSM physics: if no Higgs is observed in the established (SM, MSSM, 
  etc)  channels, what other signatures should be looked for? What can we learn from (other than Higgs) BSM search
  results for what concerns Higgs or more generally EWSB physics?
* How to present results from searches: 
  - efficiency models, unfolded distributions, roostats workspaces ..... 
  - interpretation of limits: phenomenological versus constrained models
